WELCOME
Whether you are new to the Christian faith and seeking a church home, exploring the Christian faith after having tried all those other religions (i.e. Buddhism, Hinduism, Atheism, etc.), relocating to a new home in the community and looking for a new house of worship, recommitting yourself to worship practice after a long absence from the Church, or simply passing through on a visit, we would like to welcome you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to Peace Lutheran Church and invite you to worship with us. As baptized children of God, we hold firmly to the belief that we cannot by our own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, as Lord, or come to Him; but by the Holy Spirit we are called by the Gospel, enlightened with His gifts, sanctified and kept in the true faith. (Luther’s Small Catechism) |
As “…fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.” |
“…you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” |
When we gather for the Divine Service (worship) in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we are met by God himself who forgives us our sins, transforms us through his Word, gifts us with grace and strengthens us in faith through the very body and blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, that we may be fit for service in His name and for His kingdom.
On the following pages of this website you’ll find a calendar of events taking place at Peace or in the community, all of which we invite you to join. There’s a page with information regarding the history of the congregation, how the service is enacted and the times of the Divine Service, contact information and direction, and a links page to some helpful resources to name a few. Should you join us for service on Sunday, please take time to introduce yourself to me and the other congregation members after the service. At no time during worship do we make visitors stand up and introduce themselves to us. We will give some general instruction about worship that morning that may be pertinent to your experience that morning but we will not call you out. There is a service bulletin printed for each service which makes following along easier. You will however have to open a hymnal and find a page now and then. We’ll be more than happy to help you do that. We bet there are some things for which you may be unfamiliar when it comes to the Divine Service at Peace. With a little patience and time, we are sure you will catch on. If you have any questions, please ask. We may actually have an answer. If not, you're welcome to journey with us as together we seek God’s will and way for our life in Jesus Christ. Pastor Norm Rev. Norman E. Dew, STS |
